KSFO's Transmitter Site Today
Here are two present-day views of the art deco KSFO transmitter building and its rooftop tower. The room which once housed the KWID and KWIX shortwave transmitters is now a storage room. The former shortwave antenna field is now a parking lot for a rendering plant.
This image is taken from the same viewpoint as the 1942 image of the Western Electric transmitter. Seen is the station's current Nautel transmitter and the night phasor. (A new tower was constructed to the East of the main tower, allowing KSFO to operate with 5 kW at night.)
